Dear NuSocia Patrons,
Every month, the editorial team at Impact post have been bringing you stories of impact, frameworks of development and insights of social sector experts. This month is different. It is special as we celebrate the spirit of Kindness. While people all across the globe will celebrate World Kindness Day on 13th Nov, we would like to take this opportunity to go a little deeper into the topic and make it the Kindness Month, at Impact Post.
As a social impact practitioner and researcher for almost two decades, I often get asked this question - how important is the trait of kindness in the individual when one wants to choose social development or social equity as their professional career. We look at the issue in our essential reads section. We also look at how the trait of kindness, when manifested, can lead to a major career and life change in our essential watch section. Under the resources section, we are sharing the Head-Heart-Hands model that we often use in our program deliveries.
Palacio says in his book, ‘Wonder’, “What I want you, my students, to take away from your middle-school experience is the sure knowledge that, in the future you make for yourselves, anything is possible. If every single person in this room made it a rule that wherever you are, whenever you can, you will try to act a little kinder than is necessary—the world really would be a better place”. At NuSocia, making the world a better place is part of our purpose and hence this virtue of Kindness is important for us to peel a little more than usual. Hope you enjoy this peeling. Do let me know your thoughts on the same.

The Head-Heart-Hand model
To decide on how deep a client wants to engage with a community, at NuSocia we use this model to design CSR initiatives. To create an engaged community and to address global / local challenges, the 3 level model works as a simple yet effective tool.
The model has its complicated versions as well, where the awareness, compassion and engagement is in 3x3 matrix relationship with personal, social and systemic level, with the highest level of systemic engagement reflecting community well-being.
If you want to understand or discuss more on this model, we would be happy to connect (virtual or physical) over a cup of coffee. Just write back to us !
